Painting poetry

Sometimes there’s poetry to be found

in a painting,

the way lines converge

may suggest someone waiting

in the blue shadow of a tree.

Colors emerge,

engage the mind or touch the heart,

a stroke of purple

like a bruise

or vase of irises perhaps,

in silent rhyme

with the artist’s design

of many colors, shapes and sizes.

For what is poetry, really,

but the beauty of connection,

metaphor, melody, mystery,

the printed or painted word,

as once again and all along

the Word becomes flesh

or fruit and flowers, or a song…
