Winter Season

 

Midway between the Equinox and Solstice

when the days grow short 

and the sun sets sooner than it did before,

Winter approaches,

with its Holy Days,

its Hallowed Eves and celebrations,

those great occasions of the soul,

that shine at night

and in the darkness of our homes,

with candles and stars

and all the inner lights

of hope and happy memories

that flicker and flame

and kindle bright fires

on the hearth of our hearts, once again.
