A Birthday Poem – with shoes!

Today you enter into the great room

That holds the sun, the moon and the stars

And silver shoes and golden hours

To wear when you attend

The 365 dances

Designed for the year ahead.

Bouquets of flowers and second chances

Are waiting just for you

When the glass slipper fits

Like a dream or a rhyme

And a voice is heard

Like a singing bird

And the clock has run out of time.

Then shoes red as rubies

Will flash in the night

Bright as fireflies or blood

For the dance of delight

Ready to carry you home in a swish

When you click your heels

Together three times:

Make a wish!
